Brigadier William George Hewett was born on 4 September 1894.1 He was the son of Charles William Hewett and Marianne Ellen Munn.2 He married, firstly, Louise Susan Wolfe, daughter of Francis Richard Wolfe, on 19 April 1922.1 He and Louise Susan Wolfe were divorced in 1931.1 He married, secondly, Beatrice Donegan, daughter of Lt.-Col. James Francis Donegan, on 11 June 1932.1 He died on 30 April 1973 at age 78 at Ellmore, Gloucestershire, England.1,3 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches five times, and was wounded.1 He gained the rank of Brevet Major.1 He was awarded the Croix de Guerre.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) and bar.1 He gained the rank of Brigadier in the Welch Regiment.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1941.1 He was District Army Welfare Officer in 1946.1
